I have a problem. I am an addict!!! I just can’t get enough of that white powdery substance. . . .SUGAR.

With this in mind I decided to begin a new health journey  and ask for support from my friends. I did this once before and it lasted for over six years ago; the great news is that I have kept 65 lbs. off, but now I need to go back to the choices I made back then.

The good news is that all of those healthy changes made a difference and now it is time for me to begin again.

Hineini, Here I am!!

Today I started prepping for my latest health journey. Instead of counting 45 days until my 45th birthday, I am counting 21 days of healthier eating, aka no sugar. My hope is that at the end of 21 days, I will start another health journey while remaining steadfast on refraining from sugar too.

Over and over again, I have heard that it takes 21 days to create new habits. So here is the first habit I will be working to change – NO SUGAR!

Making 21 Countdown chartIn preparation for today, I made a fun little check off chart. I did this for two reasons. One, I needed to create a ritual/visualization around checking off the days. Two, I wanted a prop to share my thinking about this journey.

As a sugar addict, I need to own that part of my personality and look for ways to make better choices.

AND here is the ask, please celebrate my successes and support me through my challenges. If this isn’t comfortable for you, simply ignore me. ūüôā

Transformation needs to happen. Being healthy is literally a non-negotiable.  So tonight at sundown, I will officially begin my 21 day countdown.  I will share my journey via Facebook and my blog.

Don’t hesitate to ask me how I am doing. Your mentioning it won’t sabotage the work; in fact, it will probably help me remember that I am not alone!

l’Chayim, to life,

Chava

(Note: My world is exactly where it needs to be; my heaviness is not about my own personal journey in this moment, it is about the world around me.)

Those who know me deeply, know that my heart is full. I am blessed to feel intensely, love forever, and connect at a core level. My friends matter, their friends matter, and I care for those in my world and those in my loved one’s world. And if I am really honest, I can’t stop thinking about the larger world too.

For reasons of privacy, I won’t share any ‘real’ specifics. And in truth, the details probably don’t matter. What matters is that chances are that I am probably not alone when I say that each and every one of us are surrounded by people who are struggling.

All of us travel through passages that sometimes feel daunting. Life unravels in front of us and there is nothing we can do except open up our hearts and hold those we love and/or care for. Whether for ourselves or others, we can also take time to pray for healing for bodies, minds, and souls. AND we can visualize spirits surrounded by light too.

Years ago, when my¬†father was dying, I realized that I praying for a specific outcome didn’t work. My¬†father was going to take his last breath sometime in the coming days and¬†I would no longer have him as an active part in my life. So, I had to find a way to send healing thoughts to¬†his spirit and to let go of the impossible dream.¬†More than anything I realized that I wanted my father to have inner peace and to know that he was loved.

Only after my dad passed did I slowly begin to understand that there was a power in finding the right right prayer.¬†My prayers were unique to me in the same ways that yours are unique to you. For me, I actively visualize peace surrounding those in need. I understand that while I may want a specific outcome, I don’t always know the bigger picture. My job is to trust in the universe or perhaps God. I¬†choose¬†to let go of any preconceived notions of what life should look like. That doesn’t ALWAYS work, but I have learned to seek that people find healing and wholeness in the ways that best work for them.¬†Lately though, it is easier said than done.

So many are struggle for health and wholeness. Each and every person is traveling their own individual journey. All I can do is send positive thoughts their way. Yesterday, I posted the following on Facebook:

Seeking a prayer that shares my light and blessings for all those I know who are going through some very significant challenges. The more I care, the more I realize that when I pray I always miss someone on my list of those in need of healing. I hate the feeling that I am missing someone each and every time I pray. ‪#‎NoMoreJewishGuilt

What I know in this moment, is that I have to take a deep breath and just keep sending my healing energy into the world. I can only do the best I can do. And I can trust, that as long as I am sending positive vibes into the world around me. That’s all I can do.

We really can always pray/visualize. ¬†I just have to trust that while I may miss saying someone’s name, as long I know that my intentions are to send positive energy to all in need, I can stop being so hard on myself and trust that energy will¬†go where it needs to¬†go.

May all of my¬†prayers and positive thoughts penetrate the world around me. May those I know and those I don’t know experience wholeness. May each and every person’s spirit soar and personal wholeness reign.

And let us say. . . Amen.

“The only journey is the one within.”¬† Rainer Maria Rilke

Our lives are filled with journeys.  Sometimes we move backwards; sometimes we move forwards.  In my experience, very few of us remain stagnant for too long.

With this in mind, I have come to believe in one core guiding principle.  Visualize what you want and ask for your loved ones and friends to do the same.  Believe in your vision and own it as you work towards your goals, your dreams, and your hopes.

Before I go to sleep at night and as I move through my day, I visualize what I want for not only myself, but for those I love.  When someone is going through personal challenges, I visualize the profound work that goes into moving forward and often see those people in a state of well being.

Over the years, I have also learned another core teaching.  Surround yourself with those you believe in and respect.   If that is the starting point, it is easy to visualize healing, new experiences, and an all-around healthy life.  When you start from the premise of a healthy connection, believing that people can succeed in what they need and want is easy.

Our intentions for good have the ability to take us far in this universe.  When we use those intentions to help our loved ones and ourselves, we can truly make a difference.  I have no idea how or why this works, but try it sometime.  You will see what I mean.

Life is full of challenges and gifts; the good news is that we get to decide how we walk through life.¬† While the outcome isn’t always good or easy, a positive disposition can empower you to new heights.

Each and every step our journeys can be sacred.  When we believe our desires to be good, when we believe that we can change a little piece of the world for good, those journeys become holy.  Believe in yourself and those in your world enough to work through the steps while utilizing visions and intentions.

Deepak Chopra says it beautifully:

“Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in the like kind. What we sow is what we reap.”

Visioning is an action word.  What do you want? What do you want others to visualize for you?  What can you visualize for those in your life? Everyone can benefit from your visualizing with positive intentions, even yourself.

With blessings and light,

Chava

PS РI am currently creating an organization to create Retreats for Healing and Transformation from Childhood Trauma.  Join me in visualizing that this work can help many people to heal with the support of amazing healers and visionaries and that the organization can become fully self sustaining while compensating the healers to do their work.
