I believe that we are who we are because of the people we surround ourselves with. Although I don’t know Stacy Beyer really well, I am inspired by her daily. Not only is she an amazing singer, but she soars as a social activist. I am inspired to live more consciously & to show up differently than ever before because she,along with others, has opened my eyes to the importance of our activism.

When I asked her to share a personal motto for one of my cards, Stacy replied, “Don’t wait for someone else to do it.”

How beautiful to see this quote exemplified in how Stacy walks in the world.

Relationships can be a challenge and yet each of us are part of the human race. While it is really hard to navigate our differences, perhaps if we keep trying we will find a way.

Years ago, “Embrace, Empower, Engage – EVERYONE” became my personal motto. I use to think it had to do only with my students, my teachers, my congregants, and closest beloveds. Now, however, I believe it is meant for every interaction I have so I will keep aspiring to do just so! And yes, I know that sometimes I will miss the mark, but that doesn’t mean I should stop trying.
